After years of research, R & D department in our company invented a method for preparation of high- purity and ultra-fine metal molybdenum powder and applied for a number of patents. The application number is 200,810,230,851.

This invention is about a method for preparation of high-purity and ultra-fine metal molybdenum powder. The processing steps are as follows: (1) Make molybdenite powder into a globular or blocky structure which are dried, then put them into the high-temperature vacuum furnace to decompose and obtain non-ferrous metal impurities and molybdenum powder with low content of sulfur.(2) Transfer the above molybdenum powder into the oxidizing roasting device, and get high-temperature gaseous MoO3 (3) Deliver high-temperature gaseous MoO3 into the gas reduction device, using hydrogen as a reducing agent to deoxidize gaseous MoO3 and achieve high-purity and ultra-fine molybdenum powder. This invention that hasn’t had SO2 emissions and recycling issues, takes advantage of molybdenum and sulfur, which avoid the burden of comprehensive treatment and related emission of SO2 that are released in the course of oxidizing and roasting molybdenum concentrate, reduce emission and also enhance the overall efficiency of resources.

The method for preparation of high purity and ultrafine metal molybdenum powder, its characteristics are: (1) Preparation of non-ferrous metal impurities and molybdenum powder with low content of S. Make molybdenite powder into a globular or blocky structure with the particle size of 5mm~15mm, which are dried, then put them into the high-temperature vacuum furnace to decompose at a temperature of 1500 ℃~1700 ℃, the vacuum degree of 5 ~ 100Pa, the time of constant temperature 40min ~ 120min (2)Oxidizing molybdenum powder into a high-purity molybdenum trioxide. Transfer the above molybdenum powder into the oxidizing roasting device, and get high-temperature gaseous MoO3, the temperature controlled at 950℃~1200℃.(3)Preparation of high-purity and ultrafine metal molybdenum powder. Deliver high-temperature gaseous MoO3 into the gas reduction device. Then use hydrogen as a reducing agent to deoxidize gaseous MoO3, for which the molar ratio of hydrogen and gaseous MoO3 is 3:1~8:1, the reduction temperature is 850℃~1250℃, and achieve high-purity and ultra-fine molybdenum powder with 99.9% purity and particle size of 0.1μm~1μm.
